Hello, and welcome. I’m Elizabeth Blackmon, a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) In Illinois with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals and families through life’s most challenging seasons. My professional journey has taken me from the front lines of child welfare—helping teens and young adults transition out of foster care—to working with adults in substance use recovery, mental health treatment, and families healing from trauma, abuse, and neglect.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master of Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health and Addictions, both from Indiana University. My experience includes working with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, schizophrenia, personality disorders, substance use disorders, and the effects of complex trauma. I am also comfortable navigating career concerns, adjustment problems, relationship struggles, and identity issues. My approach blends evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and strength-based, empowerment-focused interventions. I also value integrating a spiritual perspective when it aligns with a client’s goals.

I provide teletherapy services for Home Psych Services, P.C. and Generations Behavioral Healthcare, P.C. using secure video teleconferencing for the comfort, convenience, added privacy, and safety of my clients.

Before entering the field of social work, I served in the U.S. Army and worked as an archaeological field technician, fueled by my lifelong passion for history. My own unexpected path into this profession has deepened my compassion and commitment to walking alongside others as they navigate change, heal from pain, and build a life rooted in resilience.

Outside of my work, I enjoy camping, concerts, baking and theater. I treasure spending time with my two children—one in high school and one an adult—and my loyal dog. I’m also an avid reader who loves to keep learning and exploring new perspectives.

Whether you are seeking support through a mental health challenge, recovering from substance use, navigating relationship difficulties, or simply searching for a greater sense of peace and purpose, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore, grow, and heal.
