Hi, I am delighted to meet you.  My name is Dr. Donita Lester.  I am honored to tell you a bit about myself.  I am certified as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Illinois.  I completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) in Applied Behavioral Science from National Louis University in 2002 and went on to earn my Master’s Degree (M.A.) in Counseling and Human Services from National Louis University in 2004.  I completed my Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Pastoral Community Counseling from Argosy University in 2017.

My work experience in the behavioral healthcare industry is extensive.  I have worked in hospital, university, correctional, and private-practice settings.  I have run intensive treatment programs with both men and women in correctional settings.  I have worked in private practice in Chicago serving a varied clientele providing individual and couples counseling with specialization in depression, anxiety, executive coaching, trauma-related issues, stress management, grief and loss, family conflict, and faith-based counseling.  I also have extensive experience working with addictions and in crisis stabilization and have worked in academia and teaching as an Adjunct Professor with Ivy Tech Community College in Chicago, Trinity Christian College, and Colorado Christian University teaching courses in Human Services, Ethics, Interviewing Skills, Juvenile Delinquency, Empathy Training, Counseling Skills, and Theology.

I pride myself on using a flexible and multi-faceted approach in working with clients.  As a therapist, I believe in tailoring my therapeutic approach to the needs of my clients.  I am comfortable integrating a multi-cultural approach into my counseling approach and have a strong foundation in offering faith-based counseling to a varied clientele.  My goal is to create a therapeutic environment where my clients get the help and support needed to achieve their goals.

I reside in Chicago and enjoy spending time with my family.  I provide teletherapy services for Generations and Home Psych Services using secure video teleconferencing technology for the comfort, convenience, added privacy and safety of my clients.
